Manners Park:
A 62 acre tract is just four blocks south of the Taylorville (Ill) Square.
The park has one seven-acre lake that offers great fishing, waterfowl, and
natural areas. There are also 5 playground areas for youngsters, a large
Chautauqua building that was placed on the National Historic Site list in
1988, and one other large shelter ö perfect for family reunions or large
picnics. Four baseball fields (one lighted), basketball and tennis courts,
one outdoor Olympic size swimming pool, and a community building are all in
Manners Park. The Park District Administration Building is also located
here.
At the bottom of this
page. I have listed the names of the persons at this gathering and have
given some detail concerning their relationship to the Crouch family. I am
not a genealogist. I have used the work of Myra Crouch Dickson who worked
for over 60 years to accumulate this information. Her daughter Julie
Meredith has incorporated this in a web site.
If you are interested in genealogy
concerning the David Crouch line this site is a must. For all that I came up
short. I can't identify Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hiton (Hilton). And I cannot
date the event accurately. It is certainly no earlier than 1931 and most
likely 1933. Haldeen Calvert had a daughter, Barbara Ann, born July 27,
1933, at Pana, Christian, Illinois. But there was an earlier child and a
couple later.

I've listed the persons
named in the article in the order they were named. I've attempted with
considerable success to relate them to the Crouch family. The source of much
of this material is Julie Meredith's family web site - Meredithroots.
http://www.meredithroots.org
It has a searchable database that made much of this pretty easy.
Keep in
mind that we get our Breckenridge relatives from two sources:
David & Elizabeth Cassity Crouch had a daughter named Mary "Polly" Crouch.
Polly was born about 1786 - 1789 in Wythe Co. Virginia and died about 1852 -
1855 in Kentucky. Polly married George Washington Breckenridge on March 19,
1806 in Bourbon County, Kentucky. George and Polly had nine children. One
of their children (Absalom Wallace Breckenridge) is the father of Richard
Breckenridge who married Martha Jane Crouch on May 19, 1885 in Willisburg,
KY.
