This was taken Christmas, 1943, at the Parker's.
Meredith had left Nashville the previous March. Mildred stayed at the
Price's until school was out, then to Springfield, Mo. for the Western Union
school. Her first job was Booneville and then to Cape Girardeau. She made
the trip back to Nashville for Christmas when this picture was taken. George
Helms was a neighbor - apparently on leave. Glenna apparently took this
picture and Carl the one below. Mildred - "How young we all were then!"
At first glance it
looks like the same picture, but it is not. Glenna is in this
picture and not Carl which generally gives a clue as to who took the
picture. Mary supplied
this one. It is the same occasion. Mary believed it was Thanksgiving of
1942 and in the front yard of the Nashville, Missouri farm. Mildred's memory
seems more likely here. It is too dressy for Thanksgiving and no one who
left for Idaho is here. Also Mildred really remembers this event. From left to
right: Glenna Morehouse, Helen Williams, Mildred Rehklau, Mary Crouch,
George Helms, Elizabeth Robertson, Margaret Patterson, Dick Williams, and
Claude Crouch. I have used married names here to keep things consistent.
