July 4, 2007 Neosho,
Missouri
We gathered pretty much as planned in
Neosho, Missouri, July 4, 2007. It was hoped that Mary would be up for some
of the activity, but she had a bad night and wasn't up to it. The group
gathered at Shoney's for food and then at the Booneslick lodge for the
serious reunion. We had very good weather despite the fact that we were in
the middle of record setting rains. Coffeyville was under water and Miami
was flooding at 1951 levels. A couple of weeks earlier Joplin had 9 inches
of rain in one day. We stayed completely dry. Julie pulled out her scanner
and started through the photo albums that Cathy and Jack had brought.
Everyone went through the pictures and got acquainted. While the reunion
continued past this first get together, this was the largest single group
that assembled during the week. From his generation Howard, born 1917, is
the oldest of the 17 Crouch cousins and Lon certainly one of the youngest.
Among the great grandchildren, I, born in 1943, am the oldest and Julie is
likely the youngest. There were gatherings for the next two days. At the end
of the first day Jack and his wife had to return home and daughter Carol and
husband Steve joined them. Lonnie was concerned about the news that the
Neosho River was flooding Miami where he owns a house and he was
planning a strategy to get into town around the barricades. Mary and Howard
had her regular dialysis appointment The rest of us planned for Nashville,
MO., on the 5th. See July 5, 2007,
